ZIM Profile
Zou Inter Marine (ZIM) is a family-owned company founded in 1986 by Zou Chengchuan and his wife, Wang Zhimin. It started as Laoshan Zou's Sailing Club, holding international and domestic sailing events and producing sailboats.

Mr. Zou and his wife have many years of sailing experience. Mrs. Wang competed for the Shandong Sailing Sports Team from 1957 to 1962, while Mr. Zou started his career in 1951 when he became a member of the Chinese Navy's Waterpolo Team. From 1954 to 1962 he competed for the Chinese National Sailing Sports Team. The team won 3rd place at the 1956 and 1957 International Sailing Championships, held in the USSR and Italy respectively. From 1962 to 1971 he was a competitor and coach for the Zhejiang Province Sailing Sports Team. His team won second place in the National Championship in 1963.

In 1999 a new member joined the company. Mr. Wu Haijian won first place in the 470 ClassChampionship in the 1985 and 1986 Chinese National Youth Sports Competitions, as well as many silver and bronze medals at a national level.

George, Mr. Zou's son, was influenced by his parents' passion for sailing and making boats. He decided to take on the family business in 2001, when his parents supplied racing OP boats to the 2001 IODA World Championship. He registered a new company called, Qingdao Zou Marine. George further improved the quality of the boats and also researched new and innovative boat building techniques.

In December 2005, Qingdao Zou Marine entered into a Joint Venture with China Yachting Business Partnership (CYBP) in order to grow the company, and increase its international presence. CYBP is an international private investment house specializing in making investments in the Chinese recreational marine industry and forming beneficial long-term partnerships within the diverse consumer market in China.

A percentage of the total revenues of the company will go to sponsor the National Olympic Community Sailing Project, with a goal of teaching over 1,000 young people from China to sail before the 2008 Olympic Games.
