| The Optimist Worlds Team from South Africa is a rather multinational combination of young sailors this year. Alex (13) and Ed (12) Lehtinen represent Zeekoe Vlei YC of Cape Town, but they are also members in a Helsinki based HSS yacht club. They both carry Finnish passports and have Finnish-South African parents. ZIM Racing Team member Johanna Bergqvist won Silver medal at Swedish Nationals 2008!

| China-Japan-Korea Keelboat Friendship Regatta (2008/07/04) |
After hosting the Europe Worlds in 2005, the 470 worlds in 2007 and the China Water Games Rizhao became the host of the China-Japan-Korea Keelboat Friendship Regatta. Honorary guests were the President of the 470 class as well as some prominent Japanese and Korean representatives. Around 30 teams competed in the race, which started on the 27th with good wind conditions. Teams arrived from Xiamen, Shanghai, Korea, Japan and Qingdao.
